Loved the private room for large parties. It made our bday lunch really nice

I have never been so disgusted with this particular el sombrero. It doesn't even deserve one star. How the host who answered the phone when I called is still working there, I'll never know. The most condescending rudest workers I have ever spoken to. Customer service is EVERYTHING... so if you want people to taste your delicious food, you should probably make sure they want to even eat there after the service portrayed. Zero stars....

Food was awesome,service was fast and friendly, even though we arrived about 30 minutes before closing. So appreciated wait staff not having an attitude. We did in fact leave by closing time, leaving a generous tip. Can't wait to go back!!

Best sweet tea and salsa in town. Many good menu items to choose from. Friendly service and a quiet atmosphere. Go for it. You'll enjoy.

Casual dining with an authentic Mexican taste. The service was attentive and the prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get. I will be back.

Good food decent prices

This was the awfulest food I have ever tasted & the rudest waiter I have ever encountered in my life. First of all, we had to get his attention that we were ready to order our food. My son's burritos was swimming in some kind of sauce that was thin as water so he had to eat them with a fork. My husband ordered Steak and shrimp, and the cook or whomever prepared the food there was NO SEASONING!!!! The shrimp was suppose to be placed on top of the steak but it was underneath....He never came back to the table to ask if we needed anything(napkins,more chips,salsa,etc) My Texas fajitas were awfull(dry). Just a horrible experience on a Saturday evening when we had been out all day shopping and enjoying the nice weather. When we went up to the cashier or manager to pay, he never asked us about our dining experience or anything..Not even a THANK YOU!!!! This whole group of people is in the wrong business(customer service). I wish I could give them 0 star..

Very reasonable prices and delicious Texas margaritas!

The chicken enchalada was great. Sometimes the dessert churros is not available.

Great Mexican food in the area highly recommend the Chilaquiles Lunch menu until 3:30 can't be beat.

They seem to be most intrested in serving customers by volume. Revolving door style. I prefer a more relaxed approach to dinner. But the food is good.

Great food, great service, great price. Thick crunchy tortilla chips, good hot sauces, good salsa! Tomatoes were so fresh and red. Guacamole so good! Not too crowded. Many Latinos eating here - must be good Mexican food!

The best Mexican restaurant for over 20 years

Don't bother if it's within an hour of closing time. Carnitas was dry, and my husband got something left over and cold that was other than he ordered. Normally enjoyable if a little less attention from busy staff than we prefer.

It was good but place is closed. Had a fire and burn out. Seriously came today and place caught on fire

My time there was great.The food was one of the Best Meals I have had in a long time . The service was spot on, I never had to wait for anything . The wife and I truly enjoyed our dinning experience at El Sombrero.

Very family friendly. Fast service and the food is amazing. If the staff forget to bring something they are generally apologetic and are quick to retrieve what they forgot for you. Definitely havemt had a bad experience here. One of my favorite locations by far.

It always seems like Mexican restaurants are pretty much the same everywhere. But I'm going to tell you I have not had a bad meal at El Sombrero!I love steak quesadillas and most restaurants serve grisly steak in all of their meals. I have no idea what meet these people are using but the steak was absolutely perfect very tender and was almost like prime rib. I've never had any steak from a Mexican restaurant even close to this. I can't say enough about it I can't wait to go back and get it again. I highly recommend this place. It has both indoor and outdoor seating and the outdoor is heated and covered so it is comfortable pretty much all year long. Sometimes the service is a little slow but that is my only complaint. We always enjoy the food here.

I ordered take out from here after i haven't been there for a while and the food was just as good as i ate it the first time... Went back and sat at the bar the drinks here had me feeling pretty good

Best Mexican eatery in gainesville. Not as authentic as the local small shops but is very good. I go every weekend and it tastes good everytime.

Great enchiladas and tacos..We come here about 3 times a month. Good chips and salsa. Great service most of the time but not today. Actually had to go get server to take our order.

Full of cockroaches the manager has no manners and they reuse the salsa that people ate out of I was just there 20 minutes ago and I also saw a rat running around I recommend that nobody goes to this restaurant

Good food, good prices, great service

The salsa was great but the service was disappointing. Maybe I got the 1 server who was having a off night. He behaved as if he was already clocked out and we weren't a priority to him. I hate to give the entire restaurant a bad review due to one server. The food was good. It seemed like all the other servers made sure there customers had everything they needed with out needing to ask. It goes to show the saying one bad apple... Can be very accurate in cases like this one.

What a really good place for excellent drinks and even better food. I sure would stop in here for some of the best Mexican food around. The chilada's are amazing too! Loved this place!
